Helmut Newton

13 Sep

Helmut Newton’s photographs, showcased at the « Helmut Newton, 1920-2004 » retrospective at the Grand Palais, in Paris, from March 24 to July 30, 2012, inspired the Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2013 Show.

Other Helmut Newton-inspired collections : Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2010 (this collection evoked a powerful Helmut Newton-style woman), Alessandro Dell’Acqua Autumn/Winter 2002-2003 (inspired, like other collections designed by Alessandro Dell’Acqua, by Helmut Newton’s ’70s pictures), Anthony Vaccarello (his 1st collections, circa 2009-2010, were inspired by Helmut Newton), Bibhu Mohapatra Spring/Summer 2012, Danielle Scutt Spring/Summer 2009 (based in part on Helmut Newton’s photographs), Dior Pre-Fall 2009 (in part), Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2004-2005 (this collection was a tribute to Helmut Newton), Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (inspired by Helmut Newton’s photographs), Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2011 (influenced by Helmut Newton’s pictures of Paris by night), Kevork Kiledjian Autumn/Winter 2012-2013, Lawrence Steele Spring/Summer 2000 (the models echoed Helmut Newton’s ’70s glamorous women), MaxMara Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 (the hairstyle of this show, by Luigi Murenu, was reminiscent of Helmut Newton’s Polaroids), Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2010 (the muses of this collection were Helmut Newton’s models), Phi Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (inspired by Helmut Newton’s « Sleepless Nights » book), Stærk Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (the starting point of this collection was Helmut and June Newton), The Row by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen (Helmut Newton’s pictures inspired some pieces in the 1st The Row collections, designed by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, circa 2007-2009), Vena Cava Resort 2013 (partly).
