Arthur Rimbaud

05 Mar

JCDC AW1314Ophelia, from Arthur Rimbaud’s poem, is the muse of the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 Show.

Other Arthur Rimbaud-inspired collections : Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2012 Menswear (Arthur Rimbaud’s self-exile in Africa was the starting point of this collection), Charles Anastase Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 (this collection mixed Arthur Rimbaud’s debauchery with Kurt Cobain’s spirit), Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (a dress was decorated with Arthur Rimbaud’s portrait ; furthermore, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac also used the poet’s portrait to ornate plates and armchairs), Junya Watanabe Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (the soundtrack of this show was the voice of a man who read Arthur Rimbaud’s « Ophelia » poem).

Yes, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (or JC/DC ) is one of my all-time favorite designers : he’s absolutely sensational !!!

This dress is amazing…I love how the orange color hair pops against the black!

Me too : it’s so poetic and powerful ! The black cross also adds a spiritual side to this gorgeous piece !
