Egon Schiele

05 Jun

Duro Olowu AW1213Egon Schiele’s « Self Portrait With Peacock Waistcoat » painting, and its strong similitudes to Jean-Michel Basquiat, inspired the mixes of prints of the Duro Olowu Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 Collection.

Other Egon Schiele-influenced collections : Dior Couture Autumn/Winter 2004-2005 (partly), Dries Van Noten Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 Menswear (in part), Eileen Pappas (Eileen Pappas’ thesis collection, that she presented in 2013, when she was a BFA Fashion student at Parsons The New School for Design, drew inspiration from Egon Schiele’s nude female drawings), Heimstone Spring/Summer 2012 (inspired in part by Egon Schiele’s twisted torsos), Louis Vuitton by Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2005-2006 (the rigorous shapes of some pieces were inspired by Egon Schiele), Nina Ricci by Lars Nilsson Spring/Summer 2005 (the U.S. campaign for this collection, shot by Glen Luchford, was influenced by Egon Schiele), Prism Spring/Summer 2012 (the colors were inspired by Egon Schiele’s sketches), The Row by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (Egon Schiele’s artwork was pinned on the inspiration board of this collection).

Furthermore, Egon Schiele’s portraits have really inspired Valentino and costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb, and Sonia Rykiel has confessed that she loves his paintings.
