Elizabeth II

Libertine SS14

Elizabeth II, as seen on the cover of the Sex Pistols’ « God Save the Queen » single sleeve, is referenced in the Libertine Spring/Summer 2014 Collection.

Other Elizabeth II-inspired collections or items : Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (portraits of Elizabeth II featured on the « Union Jack » pattern of this collection), Andrew GN Spring/Summer 2013 (this collection was titled « Queen Elizabeth II visiting India with a stopover in Japan »), Antonio Marras Spring/Summer 2013 (the theme of this show was « Elizabeth II and the Vivian Girls in a wedding reception, into the Italian countryside »), D&G by Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (this collection was based on Elizabeth II, as portrayed by Stephen Frears in his « The Queen » film), Moschino (the Sex Pistols’ « God Save the Queen » single sleeve was revisited on the « In Love We Trust » T-shirt that Moschino designed for Moda Operandi’s exclusive « Punk » Collection, launched on May 2, 2013, to celebrate the « PUNK : Chaos to Couture » exhibition, presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, in New York, from May 9 until August 14, 2013), Vivienne Westwood Autumn/Winter 1987-1988 (this collection, dubbed « Harris Tweed », was inspired by the British fashion, when Elizabeth II was adolescent).

So, from now on, maybe that you should be named Elizabeth III ? Seriously, it’s fab to have such a royal first name ! Love the pic too because it combines both punk and royalty … I’ll reply longer next time ! XO

Punk is not dead yet !!! As much as I like lady-like pieces, I wanted to see a “fun and colorful” (again, you always get it right !) collection again ! ❤
