Balmain Pre-Fall 14

Peter Beard’s photographs of Africa have influenced the Balmain by Olivier Rousteing Pre-Fall 2014 Collection.

Other Peter Beard-inspired collections : Dannijo Spring/Summer 2013 (the presentation of this Montauk-influenced jewelry collection was based on Peter Beard’s mood boards and use of collage), Louis Vuitton by Kim Jones Spring/Summer 2012 Menswear (the tribal references of this show were a tribute to Peter Beard’s work), Max Azria Resort 2011 (this collection paid homage to Peter Beard’s photographs of Africa), Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2012 (Peter Beard was one of the influences of this Africa-themed show), Paul & Joe Spring/Summer 2013 Menswear (this collection referenced a Peter Beard-style African trip), Tibi Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (the color palette of this show was based on Peter Beard’s images), Todd Lynn Spring/Summer 2013 (the beauty and the horror in Peter Beard’s images inspired this show).

Moi aussi, merciiii ! Pourtant, j’en ai vu des milliers de jupes à imprimé léopard, mais le travail sur celle-ci est, comme souvent chez Balmain, tout simplement fabuleux ! ❤

Call me ignorant but i was not aware of Peter Beard’s images of Africa and your post made me investigate further. Stunning photography. The opulence and richness of Balmain couture ( I have a weakness for black and gold) together with the inspiration, made this one of my favourites of your posts yet. Thank you! X

You’re welcome ! I’ve been aware of Peter Beard’s work thanks to “Vogue Paris” and I was amazed when I found out that his work has inspired so many collections ! Balmain’s use of leopard print (one of our obsessions !) is truly genius ! X

You’re welcome ! An old Balmain leopard pattern was the starting point of this collection and, as we’re both addicted to our fab leopard bags, I promise that you won’t be disappointed by the other chic’n’wild looks ! xxxxx

Why do the models look so unpleasantly unhappy wearing such fine fashions ? They look ill. Photographer and Art Director failed miserably. Shocking.
