Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s 1888 « The Roses of Heliogabalus » painting has influenced the Elie Saab Couture Spring/Summer 2014 Show.
Other Lawrence Alma-Tadema-inspired collections : Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière Spring/Summer 2013 (the Guido Palau-styled twisted headpieces of this show were based on Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s depictions of Roman Empire), Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Couture Spring/Summer 2009 (the rose petals which covered the black runway of this show referenced Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s work), Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2012 (images of Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s paintings were pinned on the mood board of this collection), Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti Spring/Summer 2009 (the corset-style harnesses of this show paid tribute to Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s paintings).
