Tamara de Lempicka

Dries Van Noten SS14

For his Spring/Summer 2014 show, Dries Van Noten thought about how iconic women such as Tamara de Lempicka would dress today.

Other Tamara de Lempicka-inspired collections : Nina Ricci by Peter Copping Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (the mood board of this show featured artwork by Tamara de Lempicka), Olivia Rubin Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 (this collection drew inspiration from Tamara de Lempicka’s portraits and from New York cityscapes), Rachel Roy Pre-Fall 2012 (the work of Tamara de Lempicka was one of the references of this collection), Ralph Lauren Autumn/Winter 2005-2006 (the caps were based on Tamara de Lempicka’s 1925 « Autoportrait »), Versace Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 Menswear (this show paid homage to the way Tamara de Lempicka painted the men in her life).

Moreover, the name of the Lolita Lempicka brand, created in 1984, is a tribute to both Vladimir Nabokov’s « Lolita » and Tamara de Lempicka.

I am so untutored….I had to look up Tamara de Lempicka and was thrilled to do so! I fell in love with her artwork. Lush, Vibrant, Voluptuous. Thank you for the joy!
As for Dries van Noten — always a fan. XO

A sunburst of frills. Who wouldn’t love that? A beautiful pairing of the glamourous Polish painter and the handsome Belgian craftsman. X

Adore Lempicka’s artwork and combined with Dries Van Noten style…
what wonders there were to behold on this catwalk!!
Ruffles and flounces aren’t my personal go-to, but admired all Van Noten’s look…
this one is like a giant crepe paper rosette or flirtatious flamenco dancer’s dress…
and I think either would have much appeal to free-spirited Tamara Lempicka!! ~xo

Another wonderful example of art meeting fashion! A trip to Paris must be planned (not that we need an excuse to visit Paris, but Dries is an incentive)…!
