Dries Van Noten AW1415

Bridget Riley’s op art has influenced the Dries Van Noten Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Show.

Other Bridget Riley-inspired collections : Blumarine Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (to define the motifs of this show, Anna Molinari said, in the August 2010 issue of « French Numéro » : « the alternating black and white stripes create optical effects that remind me of the graphic works of M. C. Escher and Bridget Riley’s op art »), Ichiro Suzuki Menswear (this show, which was awarded « Fashion Collection of the Year » at Trieste’s 2012 International Talent Support competition, paid homage to op artists such as Bridget Riley), Jonathan Saunders Resort 2013 (to describe the disc-shaped motifs on a few dresses, Jonathan Saunders told « Vogue » that they were « a bit Bridget Riley, I suppose »), MILA Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 (in this show, Mila Hermanovski partly referenced Bridget Riley’s way of playing with geometry), Noon By Noor Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 (the patterns on the eveningwear were based on Bridget Riley’s optical art), Vionnet by Rodolfo Paglialunga Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (the backdrop of this presentation was a Bridget Riley-inspired black and white swirling motif).

I love that Van Noten chose Bridget Riley’s work as his inspiration…
and that he “drew” from the coloured side of her artistic career!
Marrying psychedelic op art with sophisticated feminine demure…
is quite betwixing here and really appeals!! ~xo

This dress is so trippy! I love the neon burst of color and the ruffles on the sleeves.

Thank you ! Yes, somehow the wonderful ruffles on the sleeves make the optical pattern stand out even more magnificently ! XOXO

Now that is an example of “conscious coupling” 🙂

Another victim of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s divorce announcement ! Seriously, this combination of artistic talents is purely stunning (I’m talking about Dries Van Noten and Bridget Riley of course !).

Granted, it was a cheap joke using buzzwords of the week 🙂
But I absolutely can’t get enough of Dries!
