Lulu & Co AW1415Chad Wys’ 2009 reinterpretation of Thomas Gainsborough’s circa-1780 « Portrait of a Lady in Blue » painting, titled « Brutalized Gainsborough 2 », is reproduced on a dress of the Lulu & Co Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Collection, made in collaboration with Chad Wys.

Other Chad Wys-inspired items : Sister By Sibling Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 (the huge black dots on floral knits referenced Chad Wys).

    Familiar with Gainsborough’s piece ‘Lady in Blue’ but not with the artist Chad Wys…
    but find it incredibly interesting that his aggressive strokes of {modern} colour…
    wipe abruptly over the center realms of her thinking, speaking and feeling?
    Quite a remarkably strong {wordless} statement on the sitter and portrait~ xo
