Blue Velvet

Kenzo AW1415

Aaron de Mey’s blue makeup for the Kenzo by Humberto Leon and Carol Lim Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Collection paid homage to David Lynch’s « Blue Velvet » (David Lynch created the set of this show and mixed its soundtrack music).

Other « Blue Velvet »-inspired campaigns and collection : Fenton Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 (the ad campaign for this collection, shot by Hugh Lippe, was based on « Blue Velvet »’s dark atmosphere), H&M (Johan Renck’s campaign video for the H&M Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 Collection, featured Lana Del Rey, who covered Bernie Wayne and Lee Morris’ « Blue Velvet » song), Lulu & Co Spring/Summer 2014 (to describe this collection, Lulu Kennedy told Style.com : « I am probably David Lynch’s biggest fan, and « Mysteries of Love » on the « Blue Velvet » soundtrack really got me thinking about love »).

I am imaging the gorgeous maxi skirt with the fabulous boots and just a plain turtleneck (and a belt?) — a longer line for curvy? The current top hides her waist, but for me it is an asset I cannot waist (whoops! waste). XO

Whoops, love this ! I like the fact that you can instantly picture how you’d adapt such a wonderful runway look, to highlight your gorgeous silhouette ! XO

Thanks a lot ! It’s hypnotically gorgeous, and it’s my own little homage to Humberto Leon and Carol Lim for the great job they did at the Hyères Festival last weekend ! Xxx

Thank you ! That’s this dichotomy which makes this look so amazing : a lightly hypnotizing outfit with such heavy shoes ! XO

I love the layering of the knit/bustier on the top. Coupled with that sexy slit maxi, the look is so unique and eye-catching!

Thanks ! This extremely graphic silhouette is as eye-catching as David Lynch’s cinema and art ! XOXO

Indeed, thank you ! You explain it well : it’s conservative but edgy and sexy too ! What a prowess ! I confess that I have chosen this particular image because, to me, the optical pattern really suits David Lynch’s atmospheric movies ! XOXO
