The floral patterns of the Erdem Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Show, which was influenced by Diego Velázquez’s paintings of the « extraordinary infantas », were based on William Kilburn’s botanical illustrations.

To read about other Diego Velázquez-inspired collections, search for the « Diego Velázquez » post that I have published on July 12, 2013.

I always love Erdem’s patterns, but this style doesn’t attracted me — though it would work on curvy. On the other hand, I would like to investigate those shoes! 🙂

Thank you ! Erdem Moralioglu is the King of exquisite floral prints (instead of “Erdem”, he might as well call his beautiful brand “Eden”) !

Like Dievca, I’m always captivated by “Canadian born” *wink, wink* Erdem’s scrumptious patterns…
and this one appeals too but the styling of the dress does throw me–I think it’s the neckline??
It’s almost like he couldn’t decide which one to go with–a sheer, sleeveless tank or a defined off-the-shoulder…hmmm…and I find the two wage a little “visual” battle with each other!
But other than that I absolutely adore how he set the dark floral on a background of sheer….
it reminds me of Wm Kilburn’s lovely “Midnight Floral” china pattern by Maxwell & Williams!!~ xo

The “visual battle” that you mention here, to me, makes this floral dress so original and so modern. It’s the always-appealing battle between darkness and lightness, with the magnificent sheerness, and a marvelous tribute to William Kilburn’s exquisite illustrations ! XO

Awww so true, those “visual battles” are often the things that draw us in, open our eyes up to new design ideas, and catapult some of the most “cutting edge” styling into stardom!
Oh it’s always such a pleasure to talk fashion with you Mayann…
love that our chit chats have depth and substance…
no “fashion fluff” found here!!~ xox
