Georges Chakra Couture AW1415

The Georges Chakra Couture Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Show paid homage to Irving Penn and Richard Avedon’s ’50s photographs.

Other Irving Penn-inspired collections : Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière Spring/Summer 2012 (the visors were based on an Irving Penn’s picture), Bottega Veneta by Tomas Maier Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 Menswear (the elegance in Irving Penn’s images of London tradesmen, in the late ’40s, influenced this show), Calvin Klein Collection by Francisco Costa Resort 2014 (Irving Penn’s 2009 « Small Trades » book was one of the references of this show), Christian Siriano Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 (images of Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn, shot by her 2 husbands, Irving Penn and Fernand Fonssagrives, inspired this collection), Costello Tagliapietra Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 (in this show, Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra channeled an « all-out Irving Penn » glamour), Dior by John Galliano Couture Autumn/Winter 2005-2006 (this collection was partly based on how Dior’s designs had been immortalized by Irving Penn), Dior by John Galliano Couture Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (this collection was based on Irving Penn’s shots of Lisa Fonssagrives), Jason Wu Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (Irving Penn’s personal style influenced this show), John Bartlett Autumn/Winter 2005-2006 Menswear (this presentation was dedicated to Irving Penn’s « corner » portraits), John Galliano Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 Menswear (this show was based on a cache of Irving Penn’s images of Peruvian tribespeople that John Galliano discovered in Buenos Aires), Jonathan Saunders Spring/Summer 2006 (the program notes paid tribute to Irving Penn), Jonathan Saunders Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (Irving Penn’s sand collages influenced this collection), Maurizio Pecoraro Spring/Summer 2013 (the American photographer was one of the references of this show).

At first, I read the title as Living Porn. Just where is my head today…hmmm….? Must have been the red…It is really beautiful- is this silk?

“Living Porn”, hehe, it must be Dievca’s iconic “Sex and the City” post which messed up your head XD. I don’t know if it’s silk but it looks like it is plasticized ! The work on the fabric, the cut and the colors is extraordinary : this is totally haute couture !

So the shine on the fabric is the light, right? Not the pattern of the design. Very interesting.
Uhhh, don’t blame me for everyone having a ‘Dirty Mind’ —
    heh, heh, heh! XO

Heh, heh, heh, I couldn’t help myself blaming you 😄 The wonderful light effect on this splendid texture is so powerful : it’s perfect for the warm strength of this colorful pink / purple / red masterpiece ! XO

Thank you so very much for constantly supporting my blog ! This outfit is truly breathtaking : it seems that the pretty model has wrapped herself in a gorgeous canvas, painted by a fabulous artist, who’s a master at mixing colors (like you !). Happy day to you too, my so-loyal friend ! Mayann
