Central Park

Schiaparelli Couture AW1415

The handpainted « Central Park » pattern, which features squirrels and rats, in the Schiaparelli by Marco Zanini Couture Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Show, is named after New York City’s urban park.

Some Central Park-influenced collections : Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2010 (this collection took its inspiration from autumn leaves in Central Park), Isaac Mizrahi Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (this show referenced camping in Central Park), Trussardi by Umit Benan Spring/Summer 2013 (the program notes of this Manhattan-inspired collection mentioned the trees of Central Park).

Honestly, it makes me think of Carrie Bradshaw’s quote, « A squirrel is just a rat in a cuter outfit », in « Sex and the City »’s Season 4 Episode 9, « Sex and the Country » ! This is surrealistic fashion at its best ! XD

Très original (et assez spécial) ! 😉

Merci beaucoup ! Elsa Schiaparelli, qui avait dessiné une robe “homard”, aurait certainement adoré cette tenue vraiment surréaliste ! XD ❤

OK, the squirrels I can deal with, but the rats put me over the edge. I cannot tolerate when they dash across the bike paths by the Hudson in the evenings and I almost stepped on one in the subway. UGH.

UGH. If only rats were as purple as the little creatures on this delightful motif, it would be easier to tolerate them ! XO
