Dior Couture AW1112 Columbine

The final look of the Dior by Bill Gaytten Couture Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 Show paid homage to Columbina.

Other Columbina-inspired outfits : Popy Moreni (in the ’70s and in the ’80s, Popy Moreni created numerous designs which paid tribute to characters of the Commedia dell’arte, such as Columbina).

Wouldn’t that dress be a fun fantasy to wear? Minus the Collar an Hat. 🙂

Without the huge collar and the conical hat, Harlequin wouldn’t be seduced ! XO

In the real world, it’s great to be practical, and, in the Commedia dell’arte, it’s wonderful to be whimsical !

This makes me think of Seurat’s circus paintings; it’s fabulous and whimsical and intensely captivating.

Thanks a lot for your beautiful comment ! I don’t know if Georges Seurat’s “Le Cirque” painting was on Bill Gaytten’s mood board but you’ve found a very poetic reference point here !
