One dress of The Rodnik Band Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 Collection, titled « Venus in Sequins », which paid homage to various artists, made reference to Marcel Duchamp’s 1917 « Fountain / Fontaine ».
Some Marcel Duchamp-influenced collections : Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2008 Menswear (a recording of an interview with Marcel Duchamp opened this show), Clements Ribeiro Project #3 (this capsule collection, launched circa July 2009, was based on Marcel Duchamp’s found objects), Louis Vuitton by Marc Jacobs (Marc Jacobs said that his 2000 collaboration with Stephen Sprouse, for the « Graffiti » line, had been unconsciously inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s 1919 « L.H.O.O.Q. »), Todd Lynn Spring/Summer 2009 (Marcel Duchamp’s 1912 « Nude Descending a Staircase / Nu descendant un escalier » was referenced in this show).

What it looks like to me is a Men’s sports cup from a jock strap, or a bidet…

No wonder it reminds you of a bidet, as Marcel Duchamp’s Dada « Fountain » used a real R. Mutt-signed porcelain urinal ! XO

Thank you ! This stunning structure really pays (oh, I’ve almost written “pees” !) tribute to Marcel Duchamp’s provocative readymade !

Definitely provocative piece of wearable art that has Marcel Duchamp’s fountain (minus the “R. Mutt”) written all over it.
