Milk chocolate frosting and tiny bits of gold were used by Melissa Torres of Cake Hero, one of the 6 cakemakers who were asked to bake a « Barbie™ Cake » which reproduces a dress by Charles James, to celebrate the « Charles James : Beyond Fashion » exhibition, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, in New York, from May 8 until August 10, 2014.

Other cakes-influenced collections : Isaac Mizrahi Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (waiters, carrying a big cake on a tray, took to the catwalk of this show), Meadham Kirchhoff Spring/Summer 2012 (this «The girl on the Cake»-themed show featured broderie anglaise dresses which were inspired by wedding cakes, and a huge glittering cake on the runway).

Cupcakes inspired one of the theme of the Zahia Dehar Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 Lingerie Show, presented in July 2012, during Paris Couture Fashion Week.
Other cupcakes-inspired collections or pieces : Betsey Johnson Spring/Summer 2013 (this collection featured « Princess » dresses, based on cupcakes), Christopher Kane Resort 2012 (cupcake-wrapper-like skirt), Douglas Hannant Spring/Summer 2011 (this collection was inspired by cupcakes, Chantilly cream and sweets), House of Holland Spring/Summer 2011 (some leather kilts were reminiscent of cupcake-foil paper), Lisonia Spring/Summer 2012 (pink sapphire and pink gold « Gourmandise Cupcake » bracelet), M.A.C Spring/Summer 2009 (this makeup line, named « Sugarsweet », featured cupcake-like colors), Paco Rabanne by Manish Arora Spring/Summer 2012 (the dresses of the finale, in metallic paper, evoked cupcake wrappers), Rococo Nail Apparel Spring/Summer 2012 (this line featured a nail polish called « My Cupcake »), Thakoon Resort 2013 (this collection was inspired by cupcakes), Versus by Christopher Kane Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (cupcake-wrapper-pleated skirt).
Some ad campaigns which showcased cupcakes : Berenice Autumn/Winter 2008-2009, Mouton Collet Spring/Summer 2009, Mulberry Autumn/Winter 2010-2011.
Furthermore, for Summer 2009, stylist Lisa Edsalv and photographer Therese Aldgard unveiled a series of photographs highlighting cupcakes inspired by fashion (breast-shaped cupcakes for Agent Provocateur, candy-cupcakes for Betsey Johnson, a black-and-white recipe for Chanel, a cherry-and-liquorice version for Christian Louboutin, and milk chocolate-flavored cupcakes for Louis Vuitton).
