The « Pizza or Caviar ? » slogan in the DKNY Pre-Fall 2014 Collection was inspired by Donna Karan’s comment, when she launched her DKNY line, in 1988, stating that this more affordable line was « the pizza to her Donna Karan’s collection caviar ».
Other caviar-influenced items : Julien David Spring/Summer 2014 (the open-weave nylon with dots references pearls of caviar).
The « caviar » is also the name of a fabric with a light-specked pattern, on a background of a different color, whose appearance evokes caviar.
Furthermore, Yves Saint Laurent decorated the Caviar House & Prunier boxes, for Christmases 2006 and 2007, and Giambattista Valli designed the artwork of the Caviar Kaspia tin, which was launched in the Spring of 2011.
Moreover, in March 2011, when Michael Kors opened his new store on London’s Regent Street, to describe this new shopping experience, which mixed couture and the high street, he told « British Vogue » : « I love indulgent caviar but I also enjoy a delicious pizza – they’re just different experiences. The same goes for my new store ».
