Sibling SS15

Maripol’s ’80s photographs of Madonna influenced the Sibling Spring/Summer 2015 Show, titled « Holiday Celebrate ».

To read about other Madonna-inspired collections or Madonna’s collaborations, search for the « Madonna » post that I have published on September 4, 2012.

Leigh Bowery

Sibling SS15 Menswear

The 2 final looks of the Sibling Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear Show, made of red raffia, reference Leigh Bowery’s pompom head (the Sibling Spring/Summer 2013 Menswear Collection also paid tribute to the Australian performance artist’s pompom head).

Other Leigh Bowery-influenced collections : David Koma Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (Leigh Bowery was one of the inspirational sources of this show, which highlighted huge spots and furry pompoms), Giles Spring/Summer 2012 (pictures of Leigh Bowery partly inspired this show), John Galliano Spring/Summer 2003 (the theme of this show was « Leigh Bowery meets Bollywood »), Jonathan Saunders Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 (this collection, which paid homage to London in the ’80s, makes reference to Leigh Bowery’s extravagant costumes).

The Sisters of Mercy

Sister by Sibling AW1415

The Sisters of Mercy, one of Sibling’s Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery’s favorite bands when they were teenagers, have inspired the Sister by Sibling Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Show.

Another The Sisters of Mercy-influenced collection : Alexandre Plokhov Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 Menswear (to describe his collection, the Russian-born designer told that the theme was : « the illegitimate children of The Misfits’ Glenn Danzig and The Sisters of Mercy’s Andrew Eldritch. »).
