Beauty and the Beast

The surrealism-inspired Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Autumn/Winter 2006-2007 Show (whose 32nd look, « Médée », reinterpreted the « Skeleton Dress » that Elsa Schiaparelli made in collaboration with Salvador Dalí) paid homage to Jean Cocteau’s « Beauty and the Beast / La Belle et la Bête ».

Other « Beauty and the Beast »-influenced campaigns, collection, items or windows : Custo Barcelona Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 (this show, titled « Beauty and the Best », drew inspiration from « Beauty and the Beast »), Dior (the TV ad for the « Poison » fragrance, directed in 1985 by Claude Chabrol and Tyen, reimagined « Beauty and the Beast » ; the TV campaign for the « Pure Poison » perfume, directed in 2004 by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and John Galliano, also took inspiration from Jean Cocteau’s romantic fantasy film), Diptyque (in September 2009, Diptyque launched 2 candles, illustrated by Kuntzel + Deygas, which paid tribute to « Beauty and the Beast »), Galeries Lafayette (to celebrate the 2014 release of Christophe Gans’ « Beauty and the Beast » remake, the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, in Paris, displayed several « Beauty and the Beast »-themed Christmas windows, which were unveiled in November 2013).
