Francisco Goya was one of the references of the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2007 Show, titled « Sarabande ».

Other Francisco Goya-influenced collections : Diane von Furstenberg Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 (Francisco Goya was one of the inspirations of this show), Dior by John Galliano Couture Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 (one pattern paid homage to Francisco Goya’s painting), Dries Van Noten Spring/Summer 2014 (Francisco Goya was one of the influences for the ruffles of this collection), Elisabeth de Senneville Spring/Summer 1989 (some motifs reproduced Francisco Goya’s « The Nude Maja / La maja desnuda »), Emilio de la Morena Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 (Francisco Goya’s 1797 « Portrait of the Duchess of Alba » was the starting point of this collection), Marchesa Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 (Francisco Goya’s 1783 « Portrait of Maria Teresa de Vallabriga on horseback / Retrato de Maria Teresa de Vallabriga a caballo » inspired this show), Nathan Jenden Autumn/Winter 2006-2007 (« the drama of a Goya silhouette » influenced this collection).

William Blake

Julien Fournié Couture AW1415

The bewitching beauties of the Julien Fournié Couture Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Show, titled « First Impulse / Première Pulsion », were partly inspired by William Blake’s paintings.

Another William Blake-influenced collection : Ann Demeulemeester Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 Menswear (for this show, Ann Demeulemeester wondered what William Blake would have been like if he had come back in 2011).

J. M. W. Turner

L'Wren Scott AW1011The L’Wren Scott Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 Show, titled « Tuxedo Terrace », was very inspired by J. M. W. Turner’s paintings of the Loire Valley (in 2011, the late American designer told « British Vogue » that Joseph Mallord William Turner’s works were great for color research for her textiles).

Other J. M. W. Turner-influenced collections : Aquascutum Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (this show and its corresponding ad campaign drew inspiration from J. M. W. Turner’s stormy landscapes), Mulberry by Emma Hill Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (this show referenced the delicate and gloomy colors of Joseph Mallord William Turner’s landscape paintings).
