Georges Braque

Georges Braque’s « The Birds » painting was one of the references of the Andrew Gn Spring/Summer 2014 Show, dubbed « The Peggy Guggenheim Collection ».

Other Georges Braque-inspired collections : Oscar de la Renta Resort 2012 (cubist painters such as Georges Braque were honored in this show), Pamella Roland Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 (this collection paid homage to Georges Braque’s bold use of color and to the French painter’s personal elegance), Yves Saint Laurent Couture Spring/Summer 1988 (this collection was a tribute to Georges Braque and to cubism).

Fernand Léger

Fernand Léger’s 1926 « Blue Guitar and Vase » painting was one of the inspirations of the Andrew Gn Spring/Summer 2014 Show, titled « The Peggy Guggenheim Collection ».

Other Fernand Léger-influenced collections : Alexis Bittar Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (Fernand Léger’s paintings were referenced in this jewelry collection), John Galliano Spring/Summer 2011 (one outfit of this show, which was an homage to Maria Lani, evoked the portrait of Maria Lani that Fernand Léger painted), Louise Gray Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 (some motifs were based on Fernand Léger’s work).

Moreover, Yves Saint Laurent, who owned Fernand Léger’s masterpieces in his art collection, also drew inspiration from the French painter.

Peggy Guggenheim

Peggy Guggenheim’s passion for art was showcased on a dress, decorated with auction catalog collages, in the Franck Sorbier Couture Spring/Summer 2013 Show, which was based on the art collector’s life.

Other Peggy Guggenheim-inspired collections : Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Resort 2010 (this collection, presented in Venice, channeled Peggy Guggenheim), Danielle Scutt for Topshop (this jewelry line, launched on April 1^st, 2011, in collaboration with Freedom, was based on Peggy Guggenheim, who sometimes asked her favorite sculptors to make tiny versions of their works, that she wore as jewels), Erdem Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 (Peggy Guggenheim was the muse of this show, about a woman « who eats art and fashion ! », according to Erdem Moralioglu), Giambattista Valli Spring/Summer 2007 (the glasses and hats evoked Peggy Guggenheim’s), Giulietta Spring/Summer 2013 (Peggy Guggenheim–style glasses), Jonathan Saunders Autumn/Winter 2006-2007 (influenced by Peggy Guggenheim’s art collection), Kinder Aggugini Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (Peggy Guggenheim was the « chic but also rock’n’roll » inspiration of this show), Milly Spring/Summer 2011 (Peggy Guggenheim was the muse of this collection), Osman Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 (this collection paid homage to adventurous and strong women such as Peggy Guggenheim), Peter Som Spring/Summer 2011 (partly), Tory Burch Pre-Fall 2009 (the theme of this collection, « An American in Venice in the ’60s », was based on Peggy Guggenheim), Vera Wang Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 (Peggy Guggenheim’s life in Venice was the starting point of this collection).
